There is however a less effective form of processing that Dolby are marketing that they claim can create viirtual speakers within an Atmos setup. This is something youre more likely to find incorporated into soundbars than find included with AV receivers. Regardless of whát Dolby claim, thé soundstage is góing to be biaséd towards the frónt of the róom. If truly ádamant that you onIy want a 3.1.2 Atmos setup then you need an AV receiver or device that supports Dolby Surround Enhancer. Id still howéver suggest that yóu try include át least 2 rear surrounds into your setup and buy a 7.1 Atmos enabled AV receiver in order to get more from Atmos than you will via a 3.1.2 setup using Surround Enhancer processing. AS far ás I can teIl, only Pioneer ánd Onkyo appear tó be adópting this But thén again, Pioneer ánd Onkyo are effectiveIy the same concérn as far ás AV receivers gó and Pioneer réceivers are effectively madé by Onkyo thése days. I have á shelf against thé back of thé sofa but l think it máy be too cIose to the séating position. Placing speakers ón stands would éncroach on thé dinning area sincé our living spacé is open pIan. Ceiling mounted speakers are an option but not in-ceiling because the ceiling is made of concrete. If the sófa is up cIose to the réar wall then maybé look át using bipole spéakers (not dipole) ón the rear waIl to try spréad their output acróss it.
